ALOHA UTOPIA - My Day at the Punk Rock Flea Market 2011

Below are some pics I snapped real quick throughout our (myself and Jennifer Gin's) day at this year's Punk Rock Flea Market, graciously put on by R5 Productions. We debuted our new prints for our collaborative project entitled ALOHA UTOPIA (we just launched a new tumblr for it!)

7:45 AM
Jen Pick-Up, she was so excited she didn't even open her eyes for this picture.

8:15 AM
We arrive and find that our table number is 69, I find this hilarious, Jen not so much.

8:30 AM
Our walls are up and securely clamped to the table, Jen starts to set up and hang our prints. The big orange one she is holding is really awesome. (better pic here)

9:00 AM
All Set Up!

A picture of our minimal table spread that only had promo cards, which went fast,
and a quick blurb.

9:30 AM
Other vendors are beginning to arrive, I think all told there was about 140 tables.
Things were about to get crazy.

9:45 Am
We decide to take a quick walk around and check out the scene. Yes, that is in fact a clear dress on the end of that clothing rack.

9:50 AM
Almost came up on a new whip. Brand Spanking New.

10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Craziness, I saw and talked to a lot of people. Thanks to everybody who came by and bought something, was hyped on our table, or just said hello real quick. All in all it was a crazy day, definitely one to remember.

We've also got some big things coming up, please stay tuned and in the meantime check out our ALOHA UTOPIA TUMBLR that we will update FREQUENTLY. Thanks!

some prints ... (?!?)

Lately I have had the good fortune of working on some really fun projects. Above is a small preview of some mixed media prints that I recently finished and am very excited about. I will have more details about when and where they will be released in the coming weeks. Thanks.

The King of Ribs and his castle (some doodles)

I found these random doodles of a king and his castle that I wanted to share with the internet. enjoy.

Twin Falls Idaho

I drew this with water color pencils, which I really enjoy using. Anyways, this is loosely based on a great song by Built to Spill with the same name. Thanks Built to Spill.

Framed Skeleton

This drawing feels a little morbid to me, but the funny part is that I looked back through some sketch books and realized that I draw skeletons more than I thought.

The Rock

My friend Brian Kelly has really been helping out with my website, and I wanted to compensate him fairly. So I gave him a rock. I wheat pasted a drawing that I did on vellum onto said rock, which I found one time when I went tubing. I am pretty sure he likes it, after all it does make for a really good paper weight.

"Up Out of Winter"

This was a piece that I started in the tail-end of winter, in anticipation for warmer weather, and just got around to finishing. With "Up Out of Winter" I aimed to record a profound moment in the life of this particular flower.

Urban Outfitters Benefit Newsletter

Me and my good friend Chris Arizzi recently wrapped up the Urban Outfiiters Benefits Newsletter for 2009. We were able to work on this project through our jobs at 168 Design, and it was a really enjoyable experience. Yup, this was a good one.

BELIEVER

This would be a good self-portrait I think, if I was into portraits.

Bike to Work Week/Month, Columbus, OH

I was contacted way back in December/November of 2008, by the good folks at http://b2ww.org/columbus to do some artwork for their "Bike to Work Week" event(s) for the month of May. Originally we had planned on doing a poster, a t-shirt, and a spoke card; however, the project got chopped down to just the spoke card, which you see above. I wanted to post this because I am not actually sure if these were produced or not, but I really liked how it turned out regardless.

*side note: they actually contacted me because they liked the bike in my desktop wallpaper I did for Bobby Solomon's awesome blog Kitsune Noir.
